Essential Position Responsibilities
- Operate grinder/extruder ensuring proper operation of the machine.
- Makes adjustments as needed, accurately records written data tied to individual batches as it enters extrusion.
- Data is reported to quality assurance.
- Mixes proper ingredients at correct temperature, supplies and loads any material needed for the proper mixture of pet food.
- Changes screens and rotation of hammers through touch screen computer.
- Participates as a member of the Team.
- Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
- Attends appropriate team meetings.
- As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
- Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives
- Familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
- Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Physical Activities
- Must be able to work in temperature extremes (below 40 to over 100 degrees).
- Work on feet entire shift.
- Lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Climb up and down stairs/ladders to heights of 150 feet.
- Work inside or outside.
- Bend and stoop in tight enclosed area when required.
- See and use electronic screens.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Uses head covering, ear plugs (as needed), safety glasses, skid resistant steel toe shoes and any other protective equipment as needed or required.
Travel
- Not applicable for this position.
Technical Experience
- Basic understanding of computer usage is required.
- Forklift license preferred, will need to obtain license once in position.
- Heavy machinery experience preferred.
Industry Experience
- Preferred pet food production.
