Grinder Operator C4 SW- A Team

Essential Position Responsibilities

• Operate grinder/extruder ensuring proper operation of the machine.
• Makes adjustments as needed, accurately records written data tied to individual batches as it enters extrusion.
• Data is reported to quality assurance.
• Mixes proper ingredients at correct temperature, supplies and loads any material needed for the proper mixture of pet food.
• Changes screens and rotation of hammers through touch screen computer.
• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives

• Familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
• Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities

• Must be able to work in temperature extremes (below 40 to over 100 degrees).
• Work on feet entire shift.
• Lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Climb up and down stairs/ladders to heights of 150 feet.
• Work inside or outside.
• Bend and stoop in tight enclosed area when required.
• See and use electronic screens.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Uses head covering, ear plugs (as needed), safety glasses, skid resistant steel toe shoes and any other protective equipment as needed or required.

Travel

• Not applicable for this position.

Technical Experience

• Basic understanding of computer usage is required.
• Forklift license preferred, will need to obtain license once in position.
• Heavy machinery experience preferred.

Industry Experience

• Preferred pet food production.
