About the role
This position is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality to guests through effective greeting and thanking them upon arrival and departure. The role adheres to and follows the Food and Beverage culture and vision, ensuring compliance with core standards.
Responsibilities
- Effectively greet guests upon arrival and thank them upon departure.
- Control the flow of work by seating guests in station rotation and maintaining guest lists using OpenTable tool.
- Complete assigned side work, including opening and closing, and be available and ready to begin service on time.
- Take incoming telephone calls, note reservations and special requests, and handle reservations for Gabrielle diners and Camellias Afternoon Tea.
- Work effectively with all Service Professionals, ensuring efficient and effective teamwork.
- Maintain the work area, keeping the host stand clean and organized at all times.
- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
- Attend daily line ups and all mandatory meetings to stay informed about events, promotions, and other news concerning Hotel Bennett.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older (minimum age to serve alcohol).
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of food and beverage core values, Hotel Bennett service standards, and complete understanding of Forbes standards.
- Proficient in the use of OpenTable reservation tool and Outlook email tool.
- Knowledge of all dining services and table/seat position numbers.
- Basic computational ability and manual dexterity to use and operate necessary equipment.
Physical Demands
- Most work tasks are performed indoors.
- Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F).
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for a minimum of 8 hours in length.
- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, grasping, writing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity are required.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with guests, and accept constructive criticism from supervisors.
- Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
