Greenwaste Operations Labor

About the role

This position involves maintaining Greenwaste, C&A, and Wood areas by managing trash debris, performing general cleaning, assisting with onsite projects, and supporting light facility and machinery maintenance. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Greenwaste, C&A, and Wood area of trash debris
• Stand and collect material for extended periods of time utilizing both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
• Follow directions and safety procedures and protocols
• Perform litter control around the sites / nearby roads
• General cleaning of work areas
• Assist with various onsite projects
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles traveling through yard
• Light facility maintenance – painting, scraping, moving furniture and equipment
• Maintenance – selecting and using tools properly, pulling and installing parts for machinery, working with other employees to assist machinery repair
• Housekeeping – sweeping, cleaning, shoveling, and debris collection
• Clean up work area at the end of shift
• Keep work areas neat and orderly
• Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner
• Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed
• Maintain effective housekeeping in workplace area as an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• Ability to communicate with others effectively
• Ability to understand direction (written or oral)
• Ability to use basic math skills as the job demands
• Willingness to learn how to sort metal, identify colors, shapes, and weights
• Willingness to learn how to properly maintain equipment
• Willingness to learn how to properly utilize PPE

Preferred qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
