About the role
Eighty percent or more of the job's work time is spent operating the on-board hydro-vacuum system outside the truck performing non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground piping and cables. Other hydrovac/jetter work consists of tank entry, cleaning and vacuuming, mobilization of equipment, truck maintenance, and safety meetings. Heavy lifting at times is required. Working at heights is sometimes required.
Responsibilities
- Operate the hydro-vacuum system for non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground utilities.
- Perform tank entry, cleaning, and vacuuming duties.
- Mobilize equipment and perform truck maintenance.
- Lead and direct subordinate personnel to perform duties/tasks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to equipment as needed.
- Document all Company, Federal, State, and Customer paperwork as required by law and/or established policy.
- Communicate professionally with on-site customer representatives to locate the safest and least intrusive parking for company equipment.
- Respond to emergency calls as required.
Requirements
- CDL-A or CDL-B driver's license required with Tanker endorsement and NO RESTRICTIONS.
- High school diploma or equivalent and OSHA10 safety card certification required.
- Up-to-date DOT Medical card.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be comfortable navigating field tool applications.
- Manual transmission (10 & 18 speed) experience required.
- Ability to lift, push, pull 60+ pounds and work heavy equipment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel out of town and out of state.
Qualifications
- Previous jetter and hydrovac, vacuum truck, underground utility or similar field experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of emergency processes and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
