About the role

The Golf Club at Lansdowne in Lansdowne, VA, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for Full-Time Greenskeepers. This position plays an essential role in creating and maintaining high-quality playing conditions which are pivotal for both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the golf course and contributes significantly to the longevity and ecological balance of golf environments.

Responsibilities

• Performs general landscape maintenance using handheld equipment.
• Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming and mowing.
• Prepares soil beds for sod, seed and vegetative material.
• Involves in tasks related to course detail (weed and debris clean up).
• Aids with golf course set-up procedures.
• Operates utility vehicles for hauling material and removing debris.
• Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.).
• Operates equipment safely and is aware of associates and their prospective work areas.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Regularly stands, walks, sits, and uses hands, reaches with hands and arms. Occasional climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crawling or crouching. Regularly talks or hears. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds; up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), high, precarious places, and in areas with fumes or airborne particles. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Occasional exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and experiences vibration.
• Must be able to read and speak English if required for job performance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).

Skills

• Basic knowledge of golf course maintenance and construction.
• Ability to operate various types of landscaping equipment safely.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and quality.
