Greece Storm Softball Assistant Coach

About the Role

Greece Central School District seeks coaches for the Spring 2026-2027 season. Coaches will collaborate with staff to promote equity, inclusion, and diversity while fostering a positive athletic environment for students in grades 7-12.

Requirements

• Valid New York State teaching certificate in Physical Education (K-12) or another classroom subject area, or a Professional Coaching Certificate, or eligibility for a Temporary Coaching License.
• Valid and acceptable First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates at the time of appointment.
• Completion of the following coursework prior to appointment:
  • Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse
  • SAVE (School Violence Prevention and Intervention)
  • DASA (Dignity for All Students Act)
  • Concussion training
• Willingness to enroll in and complete Coaching Course Options within the first two years of coaching.
• Fingerprinting and clearance through the NYS Education Department before employment begins (fee: $102.00, responsibility of the new employee).

Qualifications

• Years of overall coaching experience.
• Years of coaching experience in a specific sport.
• Coaching experience at various levels (Youth Organizations, Modified, Junior Varsity, and/or Varsity).
• Performance in previous coaching positions.
• Demonstrated ability to:
  • Communicate effectively and positively with students and parents.
  • Develop and manage a strong grade 7-12 athletic program.
  • Oversee in-season and off-season conditioning and strength programs.
  • Expand and develop an in-community feeder program.
  • Develop a unified and committed coaching staff.
  • Emphasize academics, sportsmanship, and chemical-free sports participation.
  • Encourage multiple sport participation by team members.

As per the Hiring of Scholastic Coaching form, first consideration shall be given to the most senior applicant from the District when other factors are substantially equal.
