GRC Graduate Student Intern - Fall 2026 - ICD

About the role

The Information and Cybersecurity Department (ICD) of Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is hiring a Graduate Student Intern for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester. As part of the Information and Cybersecurity Department (ICD), the GRC Graduate Student Intern will support information security by maintaining documentation, assisting with audits/assessments, and ensuring security policies are communicated across the organization with the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team. The ideal candidate is responsive to mentoring and enthusiastic in the pursuit of cybersecurity knowledge and skills, and can respond to unfamiliar and time-sensitive situations appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Assist with audits and assessments
• Ensure security policies are communicated across the organization

Requirements

• Pursuing a Master’s degree in Information/Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
• Must be registered for 6+ credit hours (part-time intern)
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, standards, guidelines, and principles
• Interest in information/cyber security
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
• U.S. citizenship required due to research contracts with the U.S. federal government
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with technical concepts including networking, software development, and/or information technology systems
• Experience with GRC platforms and tools such as: Onspring, ServiceNow GRC, Archer, OneTrust, LogicGate, or similar solutions
• Experience conducting risk assessments, control testing, and security audits
• Knowledge of third-party risk management and vendor assessment methodologies
• Familiarity with industry-recognized risk assessment and compliance frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO/IEC 27001, CMMC, FedRAMP)
• Technical writing experience
• Strong attention to detail
