About the role

A journeyman-level Rigger has a minimum of 4 years of heavy industrial experience and is responsible for moving extra-heavy equipment, machinery, and materials using advanced rigging procedures and equipment such as cranes and lifts.

Responsibilities

• Safely and competently identify and use advanced rigging procedures and equipment.
• Locate and secure materials or equipment for lifting following safety guidelines.
• Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, slings, chokers, and shackles based on load weight and size.
• Understand weight limits of rigging components (chokers, shackles, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, and cables).
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with all personnel; apply math skills for calculating load requirements.
• Understand and complete pre-lift checklists; assist operators with lift plans.
• Proficiently use hand signals.

Requirements

• Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Rigger.
• Certification of either NCCCO Rigger Level 1 or NCCER Rigging Intermediate.
• Must possess a locking toolbox and necessary tools to perform the job.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements

• Provide OSHA 10 card or obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Wear PPE footwear and prescription safety glasses or eye shields.
