About the role
A journeyman-level Rigger (minimum 4 years of heavy industrial experience) is responsible for moving extra-heavy equipment, machinery, and materials using advanced rigging procedures and equipment such as cranes, lifts, cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, slings, chokers, and shackles.
Responsibilities
- Safely and competently identify and use advanced rigging procedures and equipment.
- Locate and secure materials or equipment for lifting following safety guidelines.
- Select rigging components (cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, slings, chokers, shackles) based on load weight and size.
- Understand weight limits of rigging equipment and calculate load requirements.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with all personnel.
- Complete pre-lift checklists and assist operators with lift plans.
- Use hand signals proficiently.
Requirements
- Four years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Rigger.
- Certification: NCCCO Rigger Level 1 or NCCER Rigging Intermediate (minimum).
- Own locking toolbox and necessary tools to perform the job.
- Ability to complete all pre-hire requirements.
- Provide or obtain OSHA 10 card within 30 days of hire.
Physical/Site Requirements
- Lift and carry heavy items up to 45 pounds.
- Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Wear required PPE: footwear, prescription safety glasses, or eye shields.
