About the role

A Journeyman Pipefitter fabricates and installs butt weld, threaded, and socket weld pipe; identifies and installs above-ground, underground, and specialty piping, hangers, supports, valves, and inline specialties; and performs stress relieving, aligning, and testing. This role requires mastery of mathematical functions for pipefitting, proper use of hand/power tools, and rigging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely around hazards associated with pipefitting.
  • Use hand, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools safely.
  • Apply construction math (fractions, decimals, geometry, trigonometry) in trade practice.
  • Interpret drawings, detail sheets, blueprints, GPS coordinates, P&IDs, plan views, and section views.
  • Identify and install valves, including those regulating flow and direction, and handle/storage procedures.
  • Identify, install, and maintain pipe hangers and supports, including variable/constant spring can supports.
  • Fabricate threaded, socket weld, and butt weld pipe systems, including calculating offsets.
  • Safely use rigging equipment (chain hoists, come-alongs, jacks) for basic and special procedures.
  • Perform material take-offs, figure offsets, and rigging tasks.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Pipefitter.
  • Ability to execute material take-offs, figure offsets, and rigging.
  • Own a locking toolbox and necessary tools for the job.
  • Complete all pre-hire requirements successfully.

Physical/Site Requirements

  • Lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.
  • Navigate confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
  • Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Wear PPE footwear and prescription safety glasses/eye shields.
