About the role
A Journeyman Pipefitter fabricates and installs butt weld, threaded, and socket weld pipe; identifies and installs above-ground, underground, and specialty piping, hangers, supports, valves, and inline specialties; and performs stress relieving, aligning, and testing. They apply construction math, read blueprints, and safely use hand, power, and rigging tools.
Responsibilities
- Work safely around pipefitting hazards and use hand, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools safely.
- Apply construction math, including fractions, decimals, geometry, formulae, and trigonometry.
- Read and interpret drawings, detail sheets, piping arrangement drawings, GPS coordinates, control points, elevations, P&IDs, plan views, section views, and isometric drawings.
- Identify, install, and maintain valves, including those that start, stop, regulate flow, and control direction; handle and store valves properly.
- Identify, interpret, and install pipe hangers and supports, including variable and constant spring can supports.
- Fabricate threaded, socket weld, and butt weld pipe systems; calculate offsets and read joint drawings.
- Safely use rigging equipment, including chain hoists, come-alongs, and jacks.
- Perform material take-offs, figure offsets, and rigging tasks.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Four years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Pipefitter.
- Own a locking tool box and all necessary tools to perform the job.
- Successfully complete all pre-hire requirements.
- Provide or obtain an OSHA 10 card within 30 days of hire.
Physical/Site Requirements
- Lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.
- Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
- Maintain full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
- Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Wear PPE footwear and prescription safety glasses or eye shields.
