About the role

The serves as a Grants Management Specialist within a FTA Regional Office. This position is responsible for providing developmental work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis of applications, provides advice and funding recommendations for the development and preparation of complex grants, specifically for a broad range of projects as well as a wide variety of applicants including state and local governments, government sponsored authorities and corporations, and joint ventures.
  • Afford technical assistance or guidance to grant recipients and stakeholders on grant administration matters, such as financial compliance, internal controls, or efficient grant management.
  • Perform grant monitoring activities, including reviewing recipient reports and disbursement requests, and maintaining grant tracking systems or databases to support management reporting and file maintenance.
  • Evaluate recipients' disbursement requests and provides feedback to senior specialists on recommendations for approval or disapproval, using fact-finding and analytical techniques and methods used to gather, evaluate, and summarize information and draw conclusions.
  • Monitor, review, and maintain tracking systems for incoming grant actions, grantee reports, disbursement requests, and other grant management documents and prepare reports and reconcile monthly.

Qualifications

  • To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
  • To qualify for the GS-11 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-09 it must include:
  • Experience applying grant analysis principles and program requirements to evaluate, assess, and make recommendations related to the review of grant proposals.
  • Experience providing technical assistance or guidance to grant recipients and stakeholders on grant administration matters, such as financial compliance, internal controls, or efficient grant management.
  • Experience performing grant monitoring activities, including reviewing recipient reports and disbursement requests, and maintaining grant tracking systems or databases to support management reporting and file maintenance.
