About the role
The serves as a Grants Management Specialist within a FTA Regional Office. This position is responsible for providing developmental work experience.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the analysis of applications, providing advice and funding recommendations for the development and preparation of complex grants.
- Aid in the drafting internal grant policies and procedures for designated departments and provide assistance under the grants assistance programs.
- Offer technical assistance to program staff and other grantees, including the interpretation of and application of grant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in assigned areas.
- Evaluate recipients' disbursement requests and provide feedback to senior specialists on recommendations for approval or disapproval using fact-finding and analytical techniques and methods used to gather, evaluate, and summarize information and draw conclusions.
- Maintain tracking systems for incoming grant actions, grantee reports, disbursement requests, and other grant management documents and prepare reports and reconcile monthly.

Qualifications
- To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
- To qualify for the GS-11 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-09 it must include:
- Experience applying grant analysis principles and program requirements to evaluate, assess, and make recommendations related to the review of grant proposals.
- Experience providing technical assistance or guidance to grant recipients and stakeholders on grant administration matters, such as financial compliance, internal controls, or efficient grant management.
- Experience performing grant monitoring activities, including reviewing recipient reports and disbursement requests, and maintaining grant tracking systems or databases to support management reporting and file maintenance.
