Grants Analyst | Finance Accounting Services
The Finance Department encompasses the Controller's Office and the Office of Budget, Treasury, and Research Administration. These offices are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of financial data submitted, recorded, and reported while providing exceptional financial services in support of the University's biomedical research mission.
About the role
The Grants Analyst reports to the Director of Sponsored Projects Accounting and provides essential support for the University's post-award grants management activities. This position assists with award administration, financial oversight, reporting, and customer service for a portfolio of sponsored projects while partnering with Principal Investigators and laboratory administrators to ensure compliance with sponsor and University requirements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary post-award finance contact for approximately 10 Rockefeller University research laboratories.
- Establish and maintain award accounts in Oracle Grants Accounting, including award setup, budget entry, modifications, and closeout activities.
- Administer grants and contracts in accordance with sponsor policies, regulations, and University guidelines.
- Monitor grant activity and accounts receivable daily and communicate with sponsors and/or the Development Office regarding outstanding receivables.
- Perform accounting and financial management for government-sponsored, foundation-sponsored, and donor-funded awards.
- Prepare financial reports, invoices, vouchers, and sponsor billing documentation.
- Provide direct support to Principal Investigators and laboratory administrators through both written and verbal communication.
- Identify spending irregularities, including over-expenditures and under-spending, and assist with expenditure forecasting and financial analysis.
- Respond to unobligated balance inquiries from the Office of Sponsored Research and obtain spending plans from laboratory administrators as needed.
- Serve as backup support to other Grants Analysts.
- Investigate and verify faculty payroll and funding transactions upon request from the Payroll Department.
- Conduct post-award grants management training for new laboratory administrators.
- Prepare financial status reports and analyses for senior management on an ad hoc basis.
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of two years of sponsored projects or post-award accounting experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Experience using, or the ability to quickly learn:
- Oracle Grants Accounting, including award setup and budget entry.
- Payment Management System (PMS).
- Preparation of invoices, vouchers, and Federal Financial Reports (FFRs).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to federal grants and contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with faculty, researchers, and laboratory administrators.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Pay
Compensation Range: Min USD $65,000.00/Yr. – Max USD $75,000.00/Yr. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
