AFA’s mission is to provide support, services, and education to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide, and fund research for better treatment and a cure.

About the role

The AFA Grant Writer & Corporate Partnership Engagement Manager will work closely with the President & CEO and the Director of Development to manage AFA’s grants program, including researching, writing, relationship building, and coordinating all aspects of the grants cycle. A key objective is to develop and maintain a larger portfolio of corporate funders.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward contributions for a defined portfolio of private and family foundations and government entities.
  • Conduct rigorous research and grants searches to identify new foundations and government funders; manage a portfolio of foundation and government grants, including writing tailored, strategic grant proposals and applications.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of funder stewardship plans.
  • Cultivate and maintain new corporate funders.
  • Work collaboratively with AFA Program Directors and the finance department to develop and submit grant deliverables (application packages, proposals, and reports).
  • Manage grant data and monitor the grant calendar, timelines, and task lists to ensure all deliverables are completed and submitted.
  • Maintain a digital library of grant support documents (financial forms, resumes, Board lists, etc.).
  • Coordinate and assist with grant reporting, including working with project directors and finance staff to meet all reporting requirements and communicate program success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Journalism, Communications, Public Health, Sociology). Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum of six years of successful grant writing and management experience in a non-profit organization.
  • Funder/donor prospect research skills or ability to learn quickly and apply.
  • Proven track record of writing funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner; successfully securing awards of $50,000 or more.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality proposals, applications, reports, and other deliverables consistently, clearly, and accurately under strict deadlines.
  • Experience using wealth search engines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assimilate and interpret program content, concepts, and translate information in writing for different audiences.
  • Understanding of program budgets.
  • Self-motivated to set and achieve ambitious goals and increase funders.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with funders.
