SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares grant proposals by researching and familiarizing with the organization's programs, goals, and financial needs. Searches for potential funding sources. Keeps careful records to track proposals. Writes proposals for unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects, and submits timely and accurate reports for existing grant-funded projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to various funding sources.
  • Identifies new funding opportunities through prospective research on foundations and corporations.
  • Generates proposals and supporting documents in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other solicitations.
  • Writes reports to funders as required.
  • Collaborates with accounting to gather information for reporting to funders on current grant programs.
  • Complies with grant reporting requirements as per foundation/corporate donors.
  • Maintains records in databases and paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Supports other fundraising projects as needed.
  • Ensures continuous progress towards achieving the organization's mission through diversified strategies.
  • Builds a diverse and inclusive local advisory board, representing the community, actively involved, and willing to secure resources.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
    • Minimum of two years of grant writing experience with non-profit fundraising.
    • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
    • Ability to monitor and meet revenue goals.
    • Excellent grammar and strong research skills.
    • Teamwork and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent communication and writing skills.
    • Knowledge of: methods, principles, and techniques associated with managing, planning, developing, budgeting, and delivering of public outreach and educational programs; principles of public speaking; computer equipment and software applications related to assignment (specifically Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel).

  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, writing, or a similar field.
    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
