About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join their finance team in downtown Nashville. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting and compliance requirements associated with grants and restricted funding sources. The ideal candidate will collaborate with program leaders and finance stakeholders to ensure accurate accounting, budgeting, and grant administration.
Responsibilities
- Manage grant accounting activities, including tracking revenue, expenses, and funding restrictions
- Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors in accordance with reporting requirements
- Monitor grant budgets and provide variance analysis to program and finance leadership
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies
- Reconcile grant-related accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to grant funding
- Support annual audits by preparing grant documentation and responding to auditor requests
- Collaborate with internal departments to develop grant budgets and financial forecasts
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen grant accounting controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with grant accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience managing multiple grants and funding sources simultaneously
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Nonprofit accounting experience and knowledge of grant compliance requirements preferred
- CPA or CPA-track candidates highly encouraged to apply
