About the role

This hands-on job involves grain receiving, storage, handling, blending, and loading; monitoring stored grain condition; and maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe work environment. Grain Elevator Operators will be cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks.

Equipment used includes various grain handling equipment, mainly conveyors and legs. Material handled includes bulk commodities such as wheat, corn, and soybeans.

Location: Wichita, KS

Responsibilities

  • Grain receiving, storage, handling, blending, and loading
  • Monitoring stored grain condition
  • Maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment
  • Travel to Great Bend KS, Scott City KS, Healy KS, Cherryvale KS, and Towner CO to assist with train activities, housekeeping, and other projects as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation
  • Able to read, write, understand, and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Available to work overtime and weekends
  • Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
  • Able to pass a criminal background check

Physical Requirements

  • Physically strenuous work
  • Ability to work in tight and confined spaces
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (occasionally more)
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders
  • Required to wear PPE

Pay

$23.00/hr and up, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate.

Schedule

2nd shift: 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed, including weekends.
