About the role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 to support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
  • Delivering targeted English and Maths interventions
  • Providing one-to-one support to pupils requiring additional assistance
  • Supporting phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy programmes
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom resources
  • Helping pupils to remain engaged and focused during lessons
  • Supporting children's social and emotional development
  • Working alongside teachers to raise attainment and pupil confidence
  • Gaining exposure to assessment, behaviour management, and classroom practice

Responsibilities

The role provides aspiring teachers with the practical classroom experience needed to make competitive teacher training applications.

Requirements

  • First Class or 2:1 degree from a recognised university
  • Strong academic background throughout education
  • A genuine desire to pursue a career in Primary Education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude

Qualifications

  • Completed GCSEs in the UK
  • A commitment to working for the full academic year

Skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
