About the role

The Graduate Student Library Assistant (GSLA) will work up to 15 hours weekly with flexible hours to accommodate the student's academic schedule. The GSLA will support the Social Sciences Librarians by participating in various instructional, research, and promotional activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Social Sciences Librarians by participating in various instructional, research, and promotional activities.
  • Assist with instruction and research support of subject expert disciplines.
  • Create and maintain communication materials to assist with outreach and engagement.
  • Create and edit online research guides in collaboration with subject librarians.
  • Help optimize existing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a UTK graduate student, preferably in SIS or CEHHS programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to high-quality customer service.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to pursue a variety of library projects and tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in instructional design, research support, outreach, or related areas.

Qualifications

Current enrollment as a UTK graduate student, preferably in SIS or CEHHS programs. No prior library work experience is required.
