About the role

The Chemistry Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Program is an educational initiative designed to provide students with hands-on research experience while pursuing a graduate degree. Students have the opportunity to work alongside professionals in various career fields and utilize advanced equipment and technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on laboratory work involving chemical synthesis, laser spectroscopy, high magnetic fields, energetic materials, and/or radiological materials.
• Collaborate with scientists in C-PCS on a variety of projects.
• Contribute to the physical chemistry and/or spectroscopy of materials relevant to national security.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in physical sciences, chemistry, physics, optical science, or a related field.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
• Enrolled in 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent).

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional scientific context.
• Commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting.

Skills

• Knowledge of basic principles in chemical synthesis, laser spectroscopy, high magnetic fields, energetic materials, and/or radiological materials.
• Experience in safe laboratory procedures.
• Laboratory experience demonstrating an attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
