About the role
This is a unique part-time, live-in role for a current graduate student, providing the opportunity to enhance leadership, interpersonal, networking, and communication skills within the Office of Residential Life. The Residential Coordinator will work closely with professional staff to create and contribute to an on-campus living and learning environment conducive to student success. Reporting to the Associate Director of Residential Life (AD), this position is based at Dorm34 under a 10-month contract from August 2026 to May 2027.
Responsibilities
- Staff supervision
- Assist the AD with the supervision and training of Resident Assistants (RAs) in programming, crisis response, collaboration, and campus culture.
- Participate in RA training during winter and summer, as well as supplemental in-services and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee Desk Attendants (DAs) and RAs in the absence of professional staff members.
- Student Development and Engagement
- Provide leadership and support to the residential community at Dorm34.
- Regularly interact with students and maintain availability during the day and evening hours.
- Act in an advising capacity and refer students to appropriate campus offices, services, and resources in accordance with the Student Handbook and Residential Life policies.
- Follow up on student concerns, acting as a liaison to ensure timely reporting and service completion.
- Assist with health and safety inspections and roommate mediations.
- Crisis Response
- Serve on-duty in collaboration with other live-in staff at the Manhattan campus (approximately two weeks per month).
- Respond to incidents in a timely manner and report them according to policy.
- Attend staff trainings to adequately and appropriately respond to incidents.

- Attend meetings with campus stakeholders.
- Assist with administrative processes, policies, and procedures.
- Travel between campuses as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Hours vary per week, with typical expectations including:
- 19 office hours per week (flexible to accommodate class schedule and student needs).
- Weekend and evening responsibilities due to the nature of the position (including pre-determined dates for duty, events, and training).
- Weekly staff meetings (adjusted every semester to accommodate schedules).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Enrolled in a graduate program during the academic year 2026-2027.
- Minimum of 3 years of student leadership experience (Residential Life and/or Campus Life experience preferred).
- One year of project management experience.
- One year of experience advising and mitigating conflict.
- One year of crisis response experience.
- Ability to implement student development theories to meet student needs.
- Willingness to learn about students and provide insight to improve community interactions.
- Interest in working in a global community.
Physical/Other Requirements
- Must be able to push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.
