Graduate Research Assistant / PhD Student – Watershed Biogeochemistry & Prescribed Fire

PhD Opportunity: Watershed Biogeochemistry & Prescribed Fire | Boise State University The Bergstrom Watershed Biogeochemistry Lab at Boise State University is recruiting a PhD Student to investigate how forest management and prescribed fire shape hydrologic response and water quality in the Northwest U.S. What You'll Do: You will evaluate pre- and post-fire hydrologic and water quality signatures using synoptic sampling, field surveys, continuous high-frequency sonde data, and geospatial/remote sensing datasets. You'll build machine learning and statistical modeling frameworks to quantify how the effects of managed fire scale downstream. About the Project: This position is part of Good Fire—a multi-institution, multi-state NSF EPSCoR initiative uniting AI scientists, hydrologists, ecologists, social scientists, and economists to understand the impacts of managed fire on people and ecosystems. You will collaborate closely with U.S. Forest Service researchers and land managers while joining a vibrant, interdisciplinary lab group working at the intersection of watershed hydrology, biogeochemistry, and wildfire science.
