Graduate Research Appointment - Limper Lab- Limited Tenure

Responsibilities

• Test anti-inflammatory and antifungal agents in mouse models of fungal pneumonia.
• Learn to serve as the primary caretaker for the laboratory’s genetically modified mouse strains, including managing breeding colonies and performing genotyping protocols.
• Harvest human lung tissue from the pathology department.
• Process the tissue into precision-cut lung slices (PCLS) in the research laboratory.
• Use harvested samples for ongoing experiments or biobanking for future studies.
• Occasionally work outside of typical laboratory hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) including evenings and weekends, as experimental protocols require.
• Present completed research in abstract form and submit findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a strong background in science, technology, engineering, or math.
• Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee).
• Students that do not meet these criteria do not qualify.
• Applicants who are currently in Graduate or Medical School are not eligible.
• Eligibility of applicants with advanced degrees above BA or BS depend on the specific degree.

Pay

This position has a predetermined rate of $20.50 per hour.

Schedule

Full Time Hours/Pay Period 80 Schedule Details M-F 8-5 This position will occasionally require work outside of typical laboratory hours to include evenings as experimental protocols require. This position has an end date of one year after the start date. It may be possible to extend one additional year dependant on funding, Weekend Schedule This position will occasionally require working weekends, as experimental protocols require.
