About the role
A Graduate approved by the State Board of Nursing, who has not yet passed the licensing exam, provides complete nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The graduate nurse participates in the Nurse Residency Program, which includes orientation, classroom education, and self-directed learning. They are paired with a nurse mentor for ongoing support.
Responsibilities
- Ensures assessment of patients and delivery of care aligns with nursing practices, policies, and protocols.
- Collects and documents health assessments, implements and evaluates care plans, reassesses patients, and communicates with healthcare providers and patients/families.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation, educates patients and families, and coordinates discharge planning.
- Communicates with interdisciplinary teams, manages emergencies, and maintains a safe environment.
- Assists in performance improvement initiatives and complies with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Pennsylvania Temporary Practice Permit.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Clearances including Act 33, Act 34, Act 73, and FBI clearance.
- Successful completion of licensure exam within six months of graduation.
