Graduate Intern-Swimming

Batten University, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, is located in Virginia Beach, VA. The university sponsors 24 varsity sports teams, supporting almost 500 student-athletes.

About the role

This graduate assistant position reports to the Head Men's and Women's Swimming Coach. The individual will assist with all aspects of the Men's and Women's Swimming program.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment of quality student-athletes
• Scheduling, managing, and coaching competitions/meets
• Planning and conducting practices
• Organizing team travel
• Monitoring student-athletes’ academic progress
• Equipment maintenance
• Fundraising
• Other administrative duties assigned by the Head Coach
• Maintain a thorough understanding of and accountability to NCAA, Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and institutional rules and regulations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by the college’s auto insurance carrier

Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with collegiate coaching experience and/or experience as a collegiate student-athlete in swimming.
