  • About the role

LJA is offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Engineer III in Land Development.

At LJA, you will be responsible for entry-level professional engineering work including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.

  • Responsibilities

A typical day might include:

  • Designing specific system components for the overall design effort.
  • Performing design calculations, preparing equipment or material specifications, and providing direction to technical support or drafting personnel.
  • Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables; supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems and possible solutions.
  • Developing working drawings for civil site plans (layout, plan and profile, grading, drainage, and paving).
  • Planning and designing facility layout and site design projects.
  • Possessing drainage design experience is preferred; Cascade 2001 and/or ICPR Version 4 is preferred.
  • Possessing strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Determining additional information that is needed from internal clients and coordinating them directly with LJA.
  • Making basic decisions regarding alternative procedures when information is not given.
  • Adjusting and correlating data.
  • Recognizing discrepancies in results and following operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  • Exercising limited judgment in making preliminary method selections and adopting alternatives.
  • Determining additional information that is needed from internal clients and coordinating them directly with LJA.
  • Making basic decisions regarding alternative procedures when information is not given.
  • Required Education/License/Certifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.

  • Required Qualifications

4+ years of post-graduate experience or master’s degree and 1-3 years of post-master’s experience.

  • Perform civil engineering plans preparation in water and wastewater distribution and conveyance infrastructure, focused on site design project components including site layout, infrastructure piping, roadways, paving, grading, drainage, and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Reviewing contractor submittals for conformance with contract plans and specifications, and evaluating requests for information as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Building strong relationships.
