Responsibilities
- Perform construction materials and geotechnical engineering investigations and studies in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget.
- Engage in engineering observations at existing building sites.
- Oversight of subcontractors for field services.
- Classification of samples and assignments of laboratory testing.
- Interpretation of engineering data and performing engineering calculations.
- The preparation of written engineering reports.
- Serve in the capacity of a Graduate Engineer to work with clients to determine scope of work and estimated costs for construction materials testing projects, as required, under the direction and review of the Manager.
- Perform engineering observation at “work sites” and direct technical staff and subcontractors, as required.
- Conduct construction observation services in the field on construction sites as needed.
- Prepare and review draft-engineering reports based on analyses of project data, laboratory and field observation notes, as required.
- Dictate, detail, and photograph findings of field observations for draft report preparation.
- Conduct engineering analysis of field data and laboratory test results supporting the preparation of report data.
- Participate in report preparation, as required, to satisfy client’s needs.
- Aid the Construction Materials Engineering and Testing Supervisor on project scope development, design of testing protocols, and construction materials testing projects, as required.
- Review and edit laboratory and field test reports upon completion of primary review by the Construction Materials Supervisor, and forward them for Professional Engineering signature and seal.
- Maintain close contact with Clients during the entire duration of each project.
- Aid the Business Manager in the review of prebilling invoices in preparation of final invoicing.
- Contact and follow up with Clients on invoicing and status of payment.
- Approve and direct project purchases with Direct Report, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited school required.
- Engine-in-Training certification in the State of Texas preferred or the ability to obtain within one year of date of employment.
- Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.
- Good oral and written communications skills and ability to work in teams at different levels within the organization.
- Advanced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must be self-motivated with good attendance record and be able to work independently.
