About the role
This is a professional position in which the graduate assistant will engage in work that benefits the program and school while providing valuable work experience.
Responsibilities
- Assisting faculty or adjuncts in the classroom as needed.
- Working with faculty on research projects.
- Working on external projects for community partners.
- Assisting with social media efforts for the School of Communication and the Arts.
- Planning and executing internal and external events.
- Assisting with various school and programmatic duties.
- Daily responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the faculty in the department.

- Career and Self-Development – The student will learn to work independently on projects and will be expected to take initiative and ownership of projects and tasks.
- Teamwork – The student will work closely with the faculty and staff in the School of Communication and the Arts to complete projects and plan and execute events.
- Communication – The student assistant will create social media content to communicate with internal and external audiences.
- Professionalism – The student will be responsible for maintaining a regular work schedule and representing the department as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate assistants must be students in the MA in Strategic Communication program.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, including the ability to:
- Work in a classroom.
- Manage social media accounts.
- Work in a busy office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous research experience is beneficial.
Physical Demands
Demands consistent with a typical office position.
Schedule
- Position Length: 9 months
- Hours per Week: 10
- Work Schedule: Office hours, depending on candidate's schedule
