Graduate Assistant - School of Social Sciences

About the Role

This Graduate Assistant position is a general office staff role supporting students and faculty in the School for 20 hours per week. The role requires in-person daytime hours during the week and involves assisting faculty with event organization, student support, and social work accreditation materials. The Graduate Assistant will also work with the Office Manager for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Assist faculty with planning and facilitating events such as Practicum Orientation and Colloquium.
• Organize files and records related to students, programming, and archives.
• Be present in the office at least three days a week (part-time) to assist students in real time.
• Support faculty with accreditation processes, including gathering data and creating accreditation documents.
• Engage in research assistant tasks such as collecting and analyzing data.
• Perform other duties as assigned to assist faculty and students.

Requirements

• Must be admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University (international students are not eligible for graduate assistantships).
• Must possess a bachelor’s degree and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong computer skills required.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks.
• Comfort speaking and interacting with a diverse group of students and professionals.
