Reports to: Senior Director of Student Engagement

About the role

Marshall Online is dedicated to integrating students into the workplace, providing opportunities for learning and growth. The Graduate Assistant position within the Online Education and Certification unit involves supporting student services, communications, and event planning to enhance online student success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with front-line student and stakeholder support through in-person, phone, email, text, and chat interactions.
  • Provide support to the Marshall Online team on initiatives and projects that promote and support online student success.
  • Utilize various communication channels including but not limited to email, social media, and phone calls to connect students with information on programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of student success programming, workshops, and events.
  • Engage and collaborate with team and campus partners.
  • Assist in creating, reviewing, and organizing documents, flyers, and web pages. Provide edits and feedback.
  • Conduct and analyze research related to best practices and trends in online learning success.
  • Utilize systems, data analytics tools, and platforms to serve and connect students, and track and evaluate processes and efficiencies.
  • Assist with surveys, polls, and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Provide support and training on technology and processes for engagement and programming.
  • Create and post content in the Marshall U app.
  • Monitor and support engagement in online connection communities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Fully accepted to a graduate program at Marshall University.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.

  • Clear and professional demeanor with peers, faculty, and staff.
  • Microsoft Suite experience, mostly Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to problem solve with assistance.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new information.
  • Flexible.

Schedule

Full Time (20 hrs a week), Fall Semester
