About the Role

This is a regular student labor position serving as Graduate Assistant for Men’s Basketball within the Athletics Department. The role involves heavy, physical, and/or manual labor, including moving furniture or equipment and assisting with preventative maintenance.

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week. Occasional nights and weekends are required during basketball season.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff with maintaining and cleaning floors and locker rooms.
  • Manage the basketball team’s equipment.
  • Break down individual and team film.
  • Conduct individual workouts.
  • Assist staff with basic office responsibilities as needed.

Enrollment Requirements

  • Fall/Spring Semesters: Student employees must be enrolled at least half-time (5 hours for graduates, 6 hours for undergraduates). F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time (9 credit hours for graduates, 12 credit hours for undergraduates).
  • Summer Semester: Students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum required hours. Students enrolled in fewer than 3 summer credit hours will be subject to FICA taxes. Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions require 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
  • Enrollment Exception: If the credit hours needed to graduate are below the minimum required, students must provide a letter from their Academic Advisor to Human Resources.

New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester they begin classes.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working in groups and independently.
  • Experience working with a basketball team preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
