Graduate Assistant Coach — XC and Track & Field
Overview of Position
The graduate assistant coach reports directly to the head coach, who is responsible for all aspects of leading a competitive NCAA Division III program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment and retention of prospective student-athletes, student-athlete academic progress and development, competition preparation and strategy, adherence to NCAA Division III rules and regulations, and general administrative duties.
Additional Duties
- Serving as the lead administrator/head coach when the head coach is unavailable
- Recruiting and retention of student-athletes
- Contributing to the academic success of the student-athletes
- Practice and game preparation
- Scouting
- Fundraising
- Athletic department events including community service
- Working closely with other department coaches and administrators responsible for rules compliance, athletic training, strength & conditioning, media relations, etc., to ensure the highest quality program possible for the student-athletes
- Other duties as assigned
NCAA Rules Compliance
The graduate assistant coach will be responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to, NCAA Division III rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the program.
Job Requirements
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree. Playing and/or coaching experience plus an understanding of NCAA Division III Rules Compliance is required. Excellent organization and communication skills necessary. First Aid, AED and CPR certifications, or willingness to secure certifications upon hiring. Must have a valid driver’s license and be available to drive team vans when needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: Coach experience within a NCAA Division III intercollegiate program; prior experience with recruiting, skill instruction, practice/game plan development, and administrative responsibilities required fiscal management and recruiting experience.
Compensation
Aug. 1, 2026, thru May 31, 2027: $5,000 and tuition waiver for 12 graduate credit hours
