About the role
The Graduate Assistant will provide day-to-day support to the Women's Softball Program. This role is designed to provide the student with professional experience in a higher education setting while supporting the operational goals of the department.
Qualifications
- Hours per week: 20/25 hours a week
- Stipend/Benefits: Tuition waived up to 24 credits & a $1000 stipend for the academic year
- Housing, Work Hours & Duties: Athletics GA positions may include the option for on-campus housing as part of the tuition compensation package.
Primary Responsibilities
- Aid the Head Softball Coach in recruiting, scouting, creating practice plans, throwing batting practice, teaching softball drills, equipment management/inventory, bat testing, game day operations, driving vans when needed to away games.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Enrollment: Must be currently accepted in a Master program at Albertus Magnus College in one of the following areas:
- Accounting (only two spots available)
- Business Administration
- Criminal Justice
- Management and Organizational Leadership
- Healthcare Administration (only two spots available)
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic
- Organized and detail oriented
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
Learning Outcomes (The "Value Add")
- The student will learn how a women's college softball program runs on a day to day basis and the necessary skills to be a full time assistant or head collegiate softball coach.
- Gain hands-on experience in recruiting, practice planning, budgets and trip planning.
- Develop mentorship skills through interaction with undergraduate students.
