The Graduate Accountant position at Northern Star (Pogo) LLC offers a vibrant hub of activity with the ability to be part of a successful and productive team. Responsibilities
- Assist in timely month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Maintain fixed asset records and support capital project accounting in conjunction with the Financial Analyst
- Partner with site departments (Mining, Mill, Maintenance, Camp Services, HSE) to support cost performance and budget alignment
- Aid in preparation of cost reports, cost-per-tonne tracking, and operational dashboards
- Monitor purchase orders, goods receipting, and vendor invoice workflows
- Collaborate with Payroll and HR to support labor costing, roster validation, and time & attendance accuracy
- Prepare fortnightly payroll in conjunction with the Payroll Accountant and complete end of payroll process reports
- Afford expatriate cost allocations, allowances, and workforce reporting
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies
- Support audit preparation and documentation (internal and external)
- Maintain data accuracy and confidentiality standards
- Support digital transformation, automation initiatives, and process mapping
- Identify efficiency opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement activities
Requirements

- Minimum two (2) relevant work experience with exposure to payroll and ERP Systems (ADP, Pronto)
- Demonstrated computer skills in Windows environment with experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail
- Knowledge of accounting, GAAP, IFRS, reporting, reporting research results, and confidentiality
- Good communication skills
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices
- Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations
- Be able to pass a background check and post-offer physical
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related discipline
- Strong analytical and numerical capability
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Pronto ERP system
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- Preferred experience or exposure to mining, energy, construction or heavy industrial sector
- Current Driver's License
