About the Role

The Foreman will supervise and coordinate activities for a grading crew on varying heavy civil construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example to ensure safety is the number one priority.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of work crews engaged in grading a job site.
  • Ensure efficiency and quality work relating to grading.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule activities with other crews and contractors on a project.
  • Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements and procedure planning.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety, quality, and specifications are met.
  • Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment.
  • Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities.
  • Confer with superintendent or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or coordinate activities.
  • Assist workers engaged in construction activities, using hand tools or other equipment.
  • Train and develop crew members as necessary.
  • Maintain good customer relations by acting in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Operate excavator, front bucket loaders, forklift, and skid steer proficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Clean driving record.
  • 5 years of quality experience in heavy civil construction, specifically working on grading.
  • 2-3 years of experience in managing and leading a team.

  • Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, and lift heavy objects (50 lbs).
  • Work outside in varying weather conditions.
