About the Role
As a Grading Foreman with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will supervise the Paving/Grading and Construction Crew and perform various duties on construction and/or paving projects. The Foreman handles most personnel management tasks on-site, makes daily production decisions, and works alongside laborers while maintaining the ability to perform any activity manually.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures, using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Report any problems to Supervisor, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
- Delegate tasks to crew members.
- Independently make daily production decisions.
- Assist the construction/paving crew with duties such as shoveling, raking, running wheelbarrows, and safely backing/dumping trucks into pavers.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with a shovel.
- Occasionally dig, spread, and level construction materials.
- Lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and supplies.
- Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to develop relationships and work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
- Working knowledge of customer specifications to ensure quality and avoid re-work or punch list work.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills: building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
- High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust.
- Must pass pre-employment criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Moderate travel required; willingness to work in or travel to other locations as needed.
- Availability during non-traditional work hours as needed.
- Ability to work independently and with groups under time constraints.
