About the role

The Grades Class Teacher (1-8) at Brooklyn Waldorf School is a vital member of our educational team, responsible for guiding students through their academic, social, and emotional development in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging main lessons aligned with Waldorf pedagogy and informed by equity-conscious teaching practices.
• Plan and deliver skills classes supporting foundational learning in literacy, math, and the arts.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of students, in collaboration with learning support and specialty teachers.
• Collaborate with class and specialty teachers to support curriculum integration and school community life, including festivals and seasonal celebrations.
• Direct and produce a class play as part of the curriculum.
• Build strong, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and prior teaching experience required.
• Waldorf teacher training preferred, or willingness to complete Waldorf training within the first few years of employment (professional development support available).
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Musical and artistic abilities preferred but not required.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods, and use stairs regularly.

Pay

$65,559-$113,636 Annually; depending upon experience

Schedule

Long-term commitment to class teaching, including the possibility of looping with a class across multiple grade levels.
