Supervises and works alongside a crew of employees and occasionally subcontractors to assist in the installation and construction grading projects. Practices absolute confidentiality, exercises good judgment, and applies common sense in all duties.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all safety policies, procedures, and established safe practices; ensures compliance from all reporting employees.
- Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety & Health.
- Trains, develops, and monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of employees through safety meetings, one-on-one development, reminders, and disciplinary action if necessary.
- Follows all requirements listed in the Supervisor Safety Procedure Manual (SSPM), including safety training, emergency procedures, accident reporting and investigation, and employee observations.
- Ensures compliance of production staff with all policies and procedures, OSHA, MSHA, and NCDOT guidelines.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22; ensures reporting employees do the same.
- Reads and follows plans, material lists, and guidelines; applies necessary timelines.
- Fulfills all regular and advanced installation/construction duties, including project layout, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Organizes, supervises, leads, and trains employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
- Submits crewmembers’ timesheets to payroll by the required deadline.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Enforces all client-required safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures, including crewmember discipline and documentation.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience required; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Current North Carolina Driver’s License.
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred.
- Storm Water Supervisor Level II Certification preferred.
- Lane Closure Certification preferred.
- Trenching safety and confined space certification preferred.
Skills
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic personal computer skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Schedule
- Normal work hours are day or night shift, eight (8) to fourteen (14) hours, Monday through Friday.
- Weekend work may be required depending on the contract.
- Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) as required.
