Grade 5 Teacher, King Open

About the role

The King Open is seeking a talented grade 5 teacher to join our caring and innovative learning community. The successful candidate will have experience planning and implementing district adopted curricula. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel
• Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies, including district-wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs
• Integrate social learning into the classroom to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community
• Partner with families and include them in the students’ learning and development, as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school
• Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations

Requirements

The successful candidate must possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Massachusetts elementary certification is required
• At least two years of full-time classroom instruction
• Experience working in an urban educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
