Grade 5 Teacher, ELT, King School
About the role
The King School seeks an experienced 5th-grade teacher to join its caring and innovative community. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and/or the Common Core. The teacher will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band.
Responsibilities
- Teach all elementary subjects.
- Implement the Wayfinder SEL model.
- Collaborate closely with the other 5th-grade teachers.
- Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to the 5th-grade team, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.
- Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies, including district-wide exams and formative assessment, in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs.
- Foster a safe, caring, and active learning community by integrating social-emotional learning into the classroom.
- Partner with families and include them in the students’ learning and development.
Qualifications
- Massachusetts State Elementary 1-6 teacher certification and SEI Endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to find joy, belonging, challenge, and growth each day.
- Experience and practice working with children at the 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade level.
- At least one year of full-time classroom instruction.
- Demonstrated success in elevating the achievement levels of a diverse student body.
- Strong classroom management skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is 180 days per year, with a flexible workday structure to accommodate the needs of the students and the school community.
