GPS Survey Technician
Saiia Construction Company LLC, a MasTec company, is seeking a GPS Survey Technician to join our team for a multi-year project with a well-known energy company. This role involves performing land surveys to measure natural features and collect data for creating topographical maps of project sites.

Responsibilities
- Work with jobsite personnel to prepare the project site for surveying.
- Unload, set up, operate, and load survey equipment (e.g., Total Station, Prism, Level, GPS base unit, Rover).
- Place grade stakes with details such as point number, offset, station number, cut/fill, and elevation.
- Locate and set grade stakes based on plan horizontal coordinates and vertical elevations.
- Measure distances between survey points and record data for topographical map creation.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain survey equipment; replace parts as needed.
- Download digital images and data from survey equipment into surveying software.
- Observe excavating activities to verify conformance to stake references and notify supervisors of deviations.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Knowledge of topographic surveys, civil construction drawings, specifications, profiles, and details.
- Experience with construction surveying and layout for water, sewer, and storm drainage.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Preferred: Strong understanding of surveying mathematics, data adjustment, surface models, and data quality analysis.
- Preferred: Basic proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills for non-standard situations.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or in a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to daily changes in project needs.
- Ability to use email, smartphones, tablets, or computers for document management.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
