About the role

The Operations Manager will lead all operational services, including imports/exports via air/ocean movement, warehousing, and customs brokerage oversight. This role supports branch operational excellence, product initiatives, and drives operational, financial, and compliance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure branch compliance with JAS processes and governmental standards.
  • Meet company and customer-established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage KPIs through operational and financial dashboards.
  • Oversee operations distribution and workloads to meet client and contractual needs.
  • Awareness of key import and export lanes and operations processes/requirements.
  • Closely collaborate with operations, sales, warehousing, and sales support teams to achieve budget targets.
  • Maintain and grow customer relationships and carrier partnerships.
  • Manage relationships with IATA at the national level and fulfill operational requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage KPIs through operational and financial dashboards.
  • Enhance staff productivity through Branch Workflow initiatives using PowerBI dashboard.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Promote, enable, facilitate, and oversee the training of branch personnel.
  • Identify and relay personnel issues to Branch Manager.
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Freight Forwarding operations experience, handling air/ocean products, warehousing, and customs brokerage.
  • 5+ years of prior supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Firm working knowledge/experience handling air/ocean imports and exports.
  • Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Must have CargoWise (C1) experience.
  • Customs Brokerage experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.

Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Environment

100% performed in a climate-controlled internal office environment. Travel will be up to ___% required in support of the position’s responsibilities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
