Hanson Bridgett's Los Angeles office is growing, and we're looking for an associate with 2–5 years of experience in public agency and/or environmental law — especially water — to join a statewide team with a practice as dynamic as California itself.

About the role

You'll work directly with a partner on a mix of transactions, advice & counsel, and/or litigation spanning:

  • Water rights
  • Clean Water Act
  • CEQA
  • Brown Act
  • Eminent domain
  • Public finance
  • Infrastructure
  • Government procurement
  • Construction and prevailing wage
  • Real estate
  • Legislative drafting
  • Government Claims Act

Prior experience at a government agency or in communications is a bonus. While we offer the ability to work remotely in an agile (hybrid) manner, this position will be expected to work alongside senior attorneys in Hanson Bridgett’s Los Angeles office approximately 3-4 days a week.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in public agency and/or environmental law
  • CA Bar required
  • Distinguished academic background and impeccable references
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Excellent and highly adaptable communication skills
  • Intelligent, entrepreneurial, and practical problem solver
  • Ambitious, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude

Pay

The annual base compensation range for this California position is approximately $195,000 to $245,000 depending on experience. Placement within the salary range depends upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience and professional skills required for this role.

Schedule

Hybrid work arrangement with expectation to work in the Los Angeles office approximately 3-4 days a week.
