Government Policy and Practice Attorney (Multiple Michigan Locations)

About the role

The Government Policy & Practice Group at Dykema is seeking an attorney with 5 to 10 years of experience to join their team in Michigan. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in administrative law, regulatory proceedings, and litigation, particularly in energy and utility matters.

Responsibilities

• Handle contested administrative proceedings, evidentiary hearings, regulatory litigation, administrative appeals, or other complex litigation matters.
• Develop case strategy, prepare and examine witnesses, draft substantive briefs and motions, and advocate before administrative agencies and courts.
• Manage complex matters in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Work on sophisticated and high-profile energy and regulatory matters involving significant infrastructure projects, contested administrative proceedings, and related litigation and appeals.
• Collaborate with attorneys, clients, expert witnesses, consultants, and other professionals to manage detailed and challenging cases.

Requirements

• Significant experience in administrative law, regulatory proceedings, and litigation, with a focus on energy and utility matters.
• Experience in energy or utility law, including proceedings before the Michigan Public Service Commission or other regulatory agencies.
• Admission to the State Bar of Michigan.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and may range from Associate to Senior Counsel or Participating Member.
