Government Mortgage Underwriting Manager - Retail Lending

CMG Home Loans is seeking an Agency/Government Underwriting Manager with active FHA & VA designations to oversee daily operations and personnel of an underwriting department while promoting the company’s financial and operational interests.

Responsibilities

• Authorized to underwrite conventional, government, Bond, and other delegated loan products.
• Develops and supports processes and procedures to maintain customer service standards and enhance loan flow for optimum production and loan quality.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops staff; manages schedules and workflow.
• Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; ensures staff conforms to organizational policies, procedures, and government regulations.
• Manages employees’ daily and weekly metrics to meet monthly productivity standards.
• Stays current with company policies, industry regulations, and changes affecting the industry.
• Ensures Byte data entry and notes are kept up to date.
• Provides training for Underwriters and may support other departments as required.
• Conducts timely performance reviews and coaches/counsels individual team members.
• Monitors internal reports as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of specific underwriting experience with all loan products (preferred).
• Two (2) years of underwriting management experience required.
• Active FHA and VA designations (DE/Lapp/Sar).
• Demonstrated knowledge of DU and LP input, interpretation, communication, and documentation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate subordinates.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Work Environment

This role operates in an ADA-compliant office environment, utilizing typical office equipment and tasks, including computer work. The position may involve partial stationary positions and moving throughout the day. Flexibility to work overtime to meet project deadlines is required.
