About the role
As a Retail Loan Underwriter, you will perform a variety of credit-related functions involving the analysis and evaluation of retail loan products. This role is responsible for helping minimize risk and potential loss to the bank by applying established underwriting guidelines. You will also communicate with lenders and processors to ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate. Initial training for this position will be conducted in our Fond du Lac office, after which a hybrid work arrangement may be available.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate retail loan products to minimize risk and potential loss to the bank.
- Apply established underwriting guidelines to loan applications.
- Communicate with lenders and processors to ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Understand and apply state, CFPB, and OCC regulations to ensure compliance.
- Work independently, adapt to varying customer and transactional volumes, and re-establish priorities as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional communication in both written and verbal forms.
Requirements
- 3-7 years of mortgage or retail loan underwriting experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field (or equivalent experience or industry certifications) is preferred.
- Experience with Encompass or similar Loan Origination System.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
