Job Responsibilities
- Contact suppliers to obtain quotes, place purchase orders, and fulfill customer orders.
- Prepare and process quotes and purchase orders to procure inventory.
- Respond to inquiries in accordance with established procedures and processes in a timely/efficient manner.
- Enter data into the company’s ERP system and other databases to reflect updates on all purchase orders.
- Receive and process requests and orders from suppliers via e-mail, fax, phone, Web, EDI and other electronic file transfer methods.
- Communicate with internal sales team regarding customer needs including orders, returns, products, shipment information, etc.
- Initiate and follow up on appropriate actions based upon needs.
- Provide internal sales team with certificates of compliance, certifications or other required documentation as requested.
- Communicate with suppliers on customer issues, delivery instructions, changing priorities, expediting of orders, and any special requirements.
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years’ experience as a Buyer for mechanical parts and /or components.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings.
- Ability to speak “shop” and/or understand mechanical components/parts to the piece/part level OR prior experience working with machine shop personnel or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related, or related experience.
- Experience supporting the Government/Military preferred.
- Strong communication skills – able to communicate/interact with all levels of management as well as customers and vendors.
- Ability to enter data efficiently and accurately in an ERP and/or Inventory System and databases.
- Knowledgeable of MS Office programs.
- Ability to use e-mail and web as an effective communication tool.
Pay
From $60,000.00 per year
