Government Audit Senior - GASB

About the role

This public accounting firm is hiring an Audit Senior for its Government Services practice, working with state agencies, municipalities, school districts, and public institutions. This role executes audit engagements, manages key deliverables and timelines, and mentors staff auditors, with a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement audit programs aligned with identified risks
• Prepare and review workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures
• Own key areas of engagements, managing timelines and prioritizing deliverables to meet firm standards and client deadlines
• Maintain professional relationships with clients, addressing issues and escalating risks as necessary
• Work directly with clients to understand their operations
• Monitor budgets and communicate with managers on necessary adjustments
• Mentor and guide staff auditors, reviewing their work for quality and completeness
• Provide feedback and contribute to performance reviews and team development

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant audit experience
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, think critically, and communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Public accounting experience
• Experience with government or public-sector clients
• Familiarity with GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) standards
• Progress toward or attainment of CPA certification

Compensation and Benefits

• $70,000 to $85,000 per year
