About the role

Under the direction of the Federal Affairs leadership, the Government Affairs Analyst will work with key external federal stakeholders on Federal matters impacting the business. The Analyst will collaborate with the business to develop policy positions in support of advocacy efforts, review and analyze federal initiatives, and support leadership in thought leadership initiatives to address emerging federal health policy issues. The role involves identifying key business issues in federal initiatives, developing alternatives, and managing the analysis of proposed and final regulation. The Analyst will engage with business leaders to establish and maintain company initiatives related to Federal legislative and regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Federal Affairs leadership, trade associations, and other stakeholders to advance organizational priorities.
  • Establish expertise in emerging health policy issues by attending relevant events and applying a strategic lens to identify critical elements for leadership.
  • Independently track, analyze, summarize, and communicate relevant Federal legislation and regulations, articulating guidance clearly for business and senior leaders.
  • Identify potential operational and policy impacts in collaboration with the business and Government Affairs leadership.
  • Provide technical support to departments regarding current, proposed, and newly promulgated Federal guidance, including acting as a subject matter expert for implementation activities.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • J.D. strongly preferred; Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Health care and/or public policy degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in a position requiring independent judgment and initiative.
  • Previous experience in a managed care setting and/or regulatory environment preferred.
  • Experience with Medicare and/or Medicaid preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with frequent contact with external federal stakeholders and internal business leaders.
  • Ability to facilitate policy discussions with stakeholders of varied levels and build consensus.
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of professionalism in all situations.
  • Proactive, independent, highly organized, and able to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and other computer skills.

Working Conditions

  • Must adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures, and Regulatory and Compliance standards.
  • Work under normal office conditions and remotely as required.
  • Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
  • May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.

Pay

Salary Range: $72,521.60 - $108,782.40

The annual base salary range provided for this position represents a range of salaries for this role and similar roles across the organization. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as scope and complexity of the role, skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate, as well as internal equity.
